Wir haben hier ein Aufruf von einer Tänzerin aus Berlin zum Thema Musik:
Hello my dear fellow salsa people!!!
A question:
are you a social salsa dancer?
are you an salsa organizer?
are you a salsa performer?
are you a salsa DJ?
Did you answer one or more questions with a YES???
… then please read on!!!
More questions:
* have you had a dance to an amazing track and wondered who the artist was and the titel of the song?
* have you had people come up and say that the music played at your event was amazing but couldn’t name one single track?
* have you had people give you standing ovations for your performance and afterwards you got asked what the track was you performed to?
* have you had people saying they loved the music you were spinning, but they couldn’t name the tracks or they came running to ask the names of tracks?

Last questions:
* would it not be nice that in the future there will be always great salsa music?
* would it not be nice to have contemporary musicians play music as rich and heavy as the ones from the Golden Age of Salsa music in the 70th?
* would it not be nice to talk about great salsa music and actually knowing names of tracks and the artists?

What I mean with that, is that the tracks of our beloved salsa music should be NOT nameless – everyone of us should know the names of the tracks we like! Because ONLY if we do know that vital bit of information we will be able TO BUY the tracks we like!

How to change the situation???
* Social dancers: learn the titles & artists of your favourite tracks !!!
* Performers: request the organizers to announce the track titel and artist along with your name before or even better after your show when the crowd has gone crazy over it!!!
* Organizers: request the performers to supply the track titel and artist along with their demo video and other details!!! Make it obligatory !!!
* DJs: request organizers to announce the track titels and artist for each show – offer them help as you will know most titels by heart anyway !!!

Because what will happen when everyone knows the music better: we can support the musicians who make that music! If we don’t support them, there will be less and less music to enjoy!

Would you please write to me in English since I live in Puerto Rico even though I have German Ancestry ! I used to reside in Schweinfurt when I was Stationed there working for the U.S Army ! My two boys were born in Bad Kissingen !
Now talking about classic salsa music, especially that magic era of Fania Records, I own over 3,000 original CD’s of almost all salsa music from all over the World including the entire Fania Catalog ! I just got the new remastered version of the Eddie Palmieri Vamonos Pa’l Monte Masterworks with bonus tracks !
I am looking for the Fania All Stars Live DVD at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in 1977, which was the best peak performance of the FAS crew ! Unfortunately the original version was a bootlegged VHS poorly converted to DVD !
